BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The Vermont Senate Wednesday unanimously overrode Governor Phil Scott’s veto of the state’s pension reform invoice.
The invoice seeks to shut a $3-billion unfunded legal responsibility in instructor and state worker retirement funds. The governor vetoed the plan saying it didn’t present systemic change. He additionally wished an outlined contribution plan like a 401k.
But lawmakers say his proposals want extra time to vet and assess and might be added later if acceptable. The House is predicted to override the veto on Friday.
