Vodacom launches R499 watch to be used in emergencies

Vodacom is launching a cellular-connected watch that wearers can use to hunt help from trusted contacts once they want it in an emergency.

The R499 Linea watch, which has no month-to-month subscription charges, includes a panic button that may ship an SMS to present pre-programmed trusted contacts and provide real-time location monitoring for as much as half-hour.

“When required, the owner of the watch can simply push the panic button on the device, and their pre-determined trusted contacts will immediately receive an alert via SMS, with a date, a time and a live GPS location link to a map to click on,” Vodacom stated.

The gadget is aimed significantly at senior residents, who may must name for help if, for instance, they’ve fallen and might’t attain their cellphone.

The Linea has between two and three days of battery life from a full cost. It comes normal with an embedded Vodacom Sim. Once the watch is switched on, the person connects the watch to the Linea+ app, obtainable for Android and iOS, to arrange their trusted contacts.
