Gator lovers take word: Brazos Bend State Park, nearly 45 miles from Houston, sits at No. 9 among the many greatest state parks within the South.
Overall, Houston ranks No. 13 total as greatest metropolis within the South.
Elsewhere in Texas, Austin earns a No. 6 rating as the very best metropolis within the South. Charleston, South Carolina, grabs the No. 1 spot, exhibiting up Dallas at No. 12.
In addition, San Marcos lands at No. 16 among the many South’s greatest school cities, whereas College Station is available in at No. 11. Meanwhile:

The rankings have been culled from a 2021 survey of Southern Living readers.
