“Short Circuit,” May 5 Cover Story
It seems that the state tax places of work and the county tax places of work usually are not placing forth the hassle wanted to offer data on this system often called “Circuit Breaker.” Had I not lived in an Episcopal Church-owned constructing with a constructing coordinator, I, too, would not have identified concerning the renter refund/rebate program.

As a retiree with no dependents, residing on Social Security and a small annuity, my funds are such that I’ve not paid federal or state revenue taxes for the previous 12 years. The tax places of work virtually do not know that I exist. I might fall by means of the cracks like so many others.

This article was good, however it’s the just one I’ve seen in 4 years of Utah residency. No every day newspaper—when there was nonetheless such a factor—ever coated the subject, and likewise for senior citizen-oriented publications. Nothing.

Will legislators do something to right the issues identified within the article? Not doubtless. Witness the debacle with the meals tax enhance in 2019 and 2020. The poor are disenfranchised, whether or not they’re seniors or working stiffs.

What’s Next for Republicans?
Now that the GOP is hellbent on casting off a lady’s proper to a protected abortion, and Republican govenors are eager to ban books and to remove voting rights, what comes subsequent? Will the Southern states attempt to reinstitute slavery?

We should keep in mind that the previous slave states had been those that put Trump into the Oval Office. Widespread poverty, poor academic techniques and rampant meth use additional outline the Bible Belt states. Outside of the South, the 2 most backward conservative states are Idaho and Utah. And in these two states, white, Mormon, Republican males rule.

At least Utah has Salt Lake County to partially buffer in opposition to the extra Trumpian rural areas. However, the conservative, largely white, all-male Republican Mormons maintain all of Utah’s seats within the U.S. House and Senate. Even Sen. Mike Lee—the “constitutional scholar” who was amongst these supporting the tried overthrow of the U.S. presidential election—will in all probability be reelected by devoted voters.

I’d reasonably see Sen. Mike Lee out. Dems will not win, and writing-in somebody who mentioned, “Don’t vote for me,” is actually losing your vote.

Sounds like a good way to get Mike Lee, a vile and corrupt man, reelected. Sometimes, you simply gotta vote strategically.

Conservatives are subhuman creatures hellbent on fortifying the patriarchy with brutal and brain-dead insurance policies. They should be eliminated by any means.
