South Australia records 5,679 COVID cases

South Australian Premier Steven Marshall says the state has recorded 5,679 new COVID cases and six deaths overnight.

Mr Marshall said some of the cases reported were from two days ago as the processing centres had to close yesterday due to hot weather.

Thursday also marked the first day rapid antigen tests were handed out by SA Health and 1,747 of the day’s cases are from those tests.

“We need to look at today’s total of 5,679 with a great deal of caution, it’s likely to be lumpy for the next day or so and then smooth out,” he said.
