Search On For Three-Year-Old Girl Who Disappeared At San Antonio Playground


Police are now searching for the whereabouts of a three-year-old girl who was left unattended at a playground near an apartment complex in San Antonio.

The missing child was identified as Lina Sadar Khil who was reported missing on Monday, Dec. 20.

According to CNN, Lina was at a playground at the time near the family’s apartment complex. The mother left her unattended and was only reported missing when the mom returned to find the three-year-old no longer there when she came back according to San Antonio Police Chief William McManus in a press conference.

An amber alert has been raised by authorities on Lina who was last seen around 4:00 to 5:00 p.m.

“We are sparing no assets or resources trying to find 3-year-old Lina,” McManus said.

For now, there remains no explanation on how the child disappeared. It has yet to be established if Lina was abducted or wandered away. Police are seeking the public’s help with any leads that could help them in retrieving the three-year-old girl.

The parents were reportedly around the playground at the time of Lina’s disappearance. Police are now searching areas around the apartment complex, including nearby dumpsters and cars, due to the unusual disappearance of the young girl.

According to CNN affiliate KSAT, the child’s family is among the Afghanistan refugees in San Antonio. It is unclear when the family arrived in the United States.

Further, an SAPD officer adds that there has been a bit of a language barrier between officers and the girl’s mother. They brought an interpreter to help with the communication.

“We have every available asset in the police department working on the case right now,” McManus said, adding that they were sparing no assets or resources to locate the missing child.

Lina was last seen wearing a red dress, black jacket and black shoes according to authorities. She weighs 55 pounds, has brown eyes and straight brown hair with a light skin complexion.
