‘Rare and Adorable’ Cotton-High Tamarin Monkey Born at Chester Zoo


Chester Zoo in the UK said they welcomed a “rare and adorable” newborn cotton-top tamarin monkey, sharing video of their newest resident on April 14. The baby, weighing just 40 grams and standing at 10cm, was born to parents Treat and Leo, whom, the zoo said, have “taken to parenthood brilliantly.” Cotton-top tamarin monkeys are listed as critically endangered on the International Union of Conservation and Nature’s Red List, with just an estimated 2,000 breeding animals remaining in the wild, according to Chester Zoo.
