Lakers Could Remove One Veteran From Roster Soon For Underperforming


The Los Angeles Lakers are trying to find answers and changing up some positions could be the answer.

Except for LeBron James and Anthony Davis, most of the players donning the purple and gold have been having erratic performances. But one player that most hoped to see flourish once more is DeAndre Jordan.

Jordan was someone who made sense and fill in the center slot the Lakers were ruing last season. Although he needs to share time with Davis and Dwight Howard, the 33-year-old has not exactly been living up to those expectations.

The All-Star center has the lowest plus-minus of any player on the entire roster, an abysmal -96.

For the season, he has averaged only 4.5 points to go with 5.7 rebounds in 13 minutes of action per game. Given those facts, there is a possibility that the Lakers could waive the 6-foot-11 cager and open up a roster spot for someone who could offer something better, Brian Windhorst suggested on his podcast.

“DeAndre Jordan is playing very poorly for them, and basically LeBron is playing a lot of minutes at center right now. I don’t think he’s starting at center but the second half on Christmas they started him at center…or they played Carmelo for a few minutes at center, which was laughable,” Windhorst quipped.

“It could be a situation where the Lakers are like, we’re going to cut DeAndre Jordan to keep a player, possibly, if Stanley Johnson works out or something like that,” he added.

There is a possibility that this may happen. The Lakers took in Stanley Johnson, much younger and playing with more fire.

Also, the fact is Jordan has not seen action in the Lakers’ last three games.

With those two noticeable things, the future of Jordan with the Lakers is cast in doubt. And seeing how their losing ways continue, the probability of the veteran center being cut is highly probable.
