‘I don’t assume gender had something to do with it’: PM grilled on debate moderator remedy


Prime Minister Scott Morrison has hit back at claims he was dismissive of Channel Nine's election debate moderator because she was female – arguing he was "respectful" and that gender had nothing to do with it.

"I'm not surprised why it would – both Anthony and I, I think, were completely respectful," Mr Morrison said during a media conference on the NSW South Coast on Monday.

"I think the way that the debate was set up made it often very difficult to hear in the room itself."
