‘All eyes’ on Iran’s eastern border after Al-Qaeda leader death

“All eyes are on Iran’s eastern border” following the death of Al-Qaeda terrorist group leader Ayman al-Zawahiri, says Foundation for Defense of Democracies in Washington's Behnam Ben Taleblu.

“With the killing of Ayman al-Zawahiri, the next up – the believed number two of Al-Qaeda – is assumed to be in Iran,” he told Sky News host Chris Kenny.

“So that may mean that the Iranian government – if that individual is still there – will have to decide what to do; to expel this person or to allegedly promote them or to basically facilitate the rise of Al-Qaeda’s next leader.

“So all eyes are on Iran’s eastern border,” he said.
